The short version
MegaCleaner runs entirely on your Mac. We don't collect, transmit, or store any of your data. Your files never leave your machine.
What the app does
MegaCleaner scans directories on your Mac to identify files that can be safely cleaned up. All scanning and cleaning happens locally. No file names, paths, sizes, or any other information about your system is sent anywhere.
Data we collect
During onboarding, MegaCleaner asks whether you'd like to share anonymous usage analytics. This is entirely optional and off by default. If you opt in, we may collect anonymous, aggregated data about how the app is used (e.g., which features are used most often). This data cannot be tied back to you or your files.
You can change this preference at any time in Settings.
The app also makes network requests for:
- License validation via Polar.sh (your license key only)
- Update checks via Sparkle (standard macOS update framework)
Payment processing
Purchases are processed by Polar.sh. We do not handle or store payment information. Please refer to Polar.sh's privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.
Website
This website uses Umami, a privacy-first, open-source analytics tool that we self-host on our own infrastructure. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across sites. No data is shared with third parties.
The only data stored locally is your theme preference (dark/light) in your browser's localStorage.
